Description

Chex, M&Ms, pretzels, oh my! The perfect mix of sweet and salty for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale

7 cups Chex cereal

2 cups mini pretzels

1 cup strawberry cake mix

¾ cup powdered sugar

¼ cup Nestle strawberry drink mix

¼ cup creamy peanut butter

2 tablespoons butter

½ cup milk chocolate chips

1 cup white chocolate chips

Red food coloring

1 cup valentine M&M’s

Valentine sprinkles

Instructions

Combine Chex cereal and mini pretzels and divide evenly into two separate bowls with covers.

In a separate bowl, combine cake mix, powdered sugar, and nestle strawberry mix; and whisk well to combine.  Divide in half and set aside.

Combine peanut butter, butter, and milk chocolate chips in a microwavable bowl. Microwave in 20 second intervals for up to 1 minute, just until melted and runny.  Stir to combine.  Pour over one of the bowls of cereal mix and pretzels, cover and toss to combine.  Sprinkle powdered sugar/cake mixture over cereal, cover again and shake until evenly coated. Set aside.

Put the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl.  Microwave in 20 second intervals until melty and runny.  Add red food coloring to achieve the desired shade of pink and stir to combine.  Pour over the other bowl of chex/pretzel mix, cover and toss to combine.  Then sprinkle the cake mix/powdered sugar mix over that cereal mixture, cover again and toss to coat evenly.

Combine both chex/pretzel mixes into one large bowl, add the M&M’s and sprinkle with valentine sprinkles.  Toss to combine. Enjoy!

Hi! I'm Leora. I am married to a fire captain (who is also the man of my dreams!), a mom to five grown kids, and a nana to five darling grandkids! I firmly believe in the importance of putting distractions away and sitting down together for family dinner, and doing so has been a tradition in our home ever since my husband and I got married 30 years ago. In fact, my children still come home often for family dinners, even though most are moved out of the house. My goal is to provide you with delicious recipes that you can share with your loved ones around the table. So, join my family for dinner, and pass your plates!
