Peanuts Puppy Chow

Our favorite mix to eat, while watching our favorite Halloween show!

Every Autumn, when our kids were little, we would head up to the Uintahs to go camping.  The crisp morning air was a perfect backdrop for hot coffee and hot chocolate………..but the cold evenings were for snuggling up in the trailer and watching our favorite Halloween movie.  So when my good friends at the Dating Divas asked me to create a snack mix for their post this month; I was THRILLED to find that it was about the Peanuts Gang!  I hope you’ll make this mix, sit back, push “play”; and make some wonderful family memories.  And while you are at it, check out the Dating Diva’s post for a fun family activity, all dedicated to this iconic movie!

Ingredients

Scale

To total 9 cups altogether –

Pretzels

Cinnamon toast crunch cereal

Puffed corn cereal

Peanuts

Peanut m&ms

Instructions

Place the pretzels, cinnamon toast crunch, puffed corn cereal, and peanuts in a very large bowl and toss together.

Place chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter in a microwave safe measuring container.

Microwave for 60 seconds and then stir until smooth. If the chocolate chips haven’t melted enough, microwave at 20 second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely melted.

Stir in vanilla extract.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the peanuts chow mixture and stir together fold with a spatula. DO NOT OVER MIX. It’s ok to have chunks stuck together.  Pour into a large resealable bag, add the powdered sugar and gently shake until well coated.  You may have to do this in 2 batches.

Pour back into the large serving bowl.  Add the peanut M&M’s and gently toss to combine.

Hi! I'm Leora. I am married to a fire captain (who is also the man of my dreams!), a mom to five grown kids, and a nana to five darling grandkids! I firmly believe in the importance of putting distractions away and sitting down together for family dinner, and doing so has been a tradition in our home ever since my husband and I got married 30 years ago. In fact, my children still come home often for family dinners, even though most are moved out of the house. My goal is to provide you with delicious recipes that you can share with your loved ones around the table. So, join my family for dinner, and pass your plates!
